About
    For those of you, who think you can solve problems in the blink of any eye, this is for you. Welcome to Bits and Bytes, the online programming contest. Here we will give you a variety of problems to play mental acrobatics with. Race against time and opponents and demolish the problems, showing the mortals how it is done. May the best geek win.

Format of the Contest
  • There would be a set of around 10 problem of varying difficulty.
  • The contest begins on 2nd March 2005 at 2:00 PM IST (+0530 GMT)
  • You will get a total of 12 hours to solve as many of these problems that you can.
  • You have to submit the solution source code online.
  • The winner will be the one who has the most number of points, at the end of the contest.
  • In case of a tie, the person with the least number of total submissions will be chosen as the winner. For this purpose, submissions are counted only for the problems which have been accepted. Submissions made for problems that have not yet been accepted will not be counted towards breaking a tie.
  • In case ties are not broken using the above rule, the prize money will be shared among the contestants.
  • There can be a maximum of 10 submissions per question.
  • Scores will be updated online, and you can see the current leaders as well as your current position.

Rules
  • Participation will be on an individual basis.
  • Solutions should be coded in C only.
  • The solutions will be compiled using gcc (version 2.95.4) on a GNU/Linux system. The flags used for compilation/linking are -lm -O0.
  • The program should strictly conform to the input and output formats specified for each problem, as the solutions will be tested by automated scripts.
  • While code reuse is generally accepted as a good practice, any reuse of code during the contest by different contestants will lead to the immediate disqualification of both contestants.
  • System calls and assembly instructions are not allowed.
  • Any attempt to deliberately crash the server will result in immediate disqualification of the contestant.
  • In case of any ambiguity, the decision of the organizers will be final and binding on all.
